'A Lost Cause' by Walter Wesché

Second place in the 1909 Music for Military Band Competition was awarded to Mr Walter Wesché (1857-1910) for his Concert Overture entitled A Lost Cause, Scotland, 1745The Musicians' Company retains the original manuscript score which is presented below. Wesché was a composer, pianist, and organist, born in Ceylon and studied under Oscar Beringer and Berthold Tours. He was appointed organist and choirmaster at a number of London Churches. Became Professor of Harmony and Composition at Beringer's 'Academy for the Higher Development of Piano Playing'.
