Programme of 1927 Band Contest at Crystal Palace

Here is a Programme from the Brass Band Contest held at Crystal Palace on 24th September 1927. It was the 22nd Annual Band Contest originally established by Pastmaster John Henry Iles in 1900 (there were no contests in the years 1914 to 1919). Click Here for more information on John Henry.

In the 1927 contest, Iles was still Director and Conducted the Massed Bands during the concert. The competition was held at Crystal Palace until the venue was destroyed by fire in 1936, after which it moved to Alexandra Palace. Following the War it was held at Royal Albert Hall.
