A Company Silver Medal was first awarded to a student at Trinity College of Music in 1917. The next award there was made in 1923 and from then until 1972 it was given every three years. Since 1972 there has been a Silver Medal award at Trinity every year.
In 2005, Trinity College amalgamated with Laban (a school of contemporary dance established in 1879) to form The Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.
